Rhinogram is a health tech startup focusing on improving the patient experience by providing healthcare offices with a HIPAA-compliant messaging application. Through personalized, tailored messages (both SMS & social), Rhinogram reminds patients of the tasks that they need to do, such as taking medication, or appointment reminders, and help patients keep better track of their care.
After raising an initial round of funding and building a technical team in Charleston, SC, Rhinogram was moving quickly to hit launch dates and deliver version 1 of their application to a market desperately awaiting a solution. As the scope of their application grew, based on customer feedback, Rhinogram reached out to Fount to assist with API & back-end development to stay on schedule.
The Challenge
Rhinogram needed senior engineers that could step in and immediately increase their development velocity. Facing capacity issues, product launch deadlines were looming and the scope of the product was increasing with customer feedback. The original outsourced team was becoming overwhelmed and needed additional support. Rhinogram required a team that was local, understood the technology stack, and could independently solve unforeseen problems.
Further, HIPAA compliance played a major role in the architecture of their solutions. The Fount crew selected for the project included a technical lead with a legal background and relevant experience interpreting HIPAA law.
The Solution
Two senior Fount engineers embedded with the Rhinogram development team and took the lead on version 1 of the messaging application. The first task was to refactor and augment some portions of the app’s authentication and architecture. The Fount team was also responsible for taking the lead on the API connections.
The Result
After a few short months of heavy development work, version 1 of Rhinogram was launched on schedule. At that time, the Fount crew began assisting with deployments, testing, & iterations based on customer feedback.
As Rhinogram began gaining traction in the dental market, it was time to bring on full-time development resources and build a team. Fount assisted with technical interviews and knowledge transfer to ensure new, in-house team was up-to-speed on the technology.
